ERASMUS and the Art Academy of Latvia
Lifelong Learning Programme ERASMUS was established on the basis of "Socrates", "Leonardo da Vinci", "eLearning", "Europass" and other programmes of European Commission. The aim of the programme is to support exchange and cooperation between educational establishments in the European Union. The programme lasts form 2007 to 2013 and it is a programme that involves all stages of education and training focusing on people of all ages. The programme has four sub-programmes: the Comenius programme, supporting activities for schools (from pre-primary schools to upper secondary or equivalent), the ERASMUS programme, supporting exchange between universities and colleges, etc.
The Art Academy of Latvia has been member of Socrates/Erasmus since 1998 and every year it has expanded the network of partner univresities and increased the number of incoming and outgoing students. At the moment the Art Academy of Latvia has concluded bilateral agreements with more than one hundred arts universities in Europe - Finland, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Iceland, Estonia, Great Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Romania etc.
Lifelong Learning Programme ERASMUS offers the following activities:
- Student exchange;
- In-service training course in companies abroad;
- Lecturer exchange;
- Exchange of experience for employees.
