| Miera Street Creative District is envisioned as a multifunctional and innovative venue for professionals and those interested in the culture sector and creative industries - a space for creative entrepreneurship and a centre for creative and cultural education that shall be accessible to society opening up possibilities for the participation and enjoyment of creative processes and generally augmenting quality of life in the city of Riga. Participation in the ideas contest for the development of Miera Street Creative District was open to all applicants interested. Rector and professor of the Art Academy of Latvia, Mr Aleksejs Naumovs, notes that such cultural and creative districts, which have attained much acclaim and success throughout Europe, present many valuable opportunities for long-term development of creative sectors and growth of individual talents. Art Academy of Latvia is pleased to be able to introduce all students and visitors to the visions of the submitted projects. Likewise, the Academy is looking forward to further development of the Miera Street Creative District and is ready to provide it all the possible support in search of new ideas and carrying out of new projects. The first prize in the ideas contest "Development of Miera Street Creative District" went to the project "Station" (authors - Oļegs Ņikitins, Liene Kuplā, Fionn Dobbin, Nataļja Doždeva and Aleksejs Birjukovs). The competition awarded three second prizes to distinguished projects: "Laboratory of Survival" (authors - Sandra Muižniece, Asnate Bočkis, Ilgvars Gravnieks), "Nemiernīca" (approximate translation - "Place of Unrest", authors - Kristaps Gulbis, Ilze Miķelsone) and "Maikapars′ Factory" (Manten Devriendt, Liene Jākobsone, Emīls Rode). |
