From 12 March until 12 April 2012 The Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Riga hosts young designer exhibition "React!" that in February was on show at the “Greenhouse” section of the “Stockholm Furniture Fair”. Stockholm Furniture Fair is the largest furniture show in the Nordic region, and the Faculty of Design of the Art Academy of Latvia had the honour to take part in it already for the seventh time. Unique Paper Fashion Exhibition at “Galerija Centrs” (0 comments)
Shopping mall “Galerija Centrs” in the Old Town of Riga hosts a unique fashion design exhibition which features garments made of paper by the young fashion designers, students of the Art Academy of Latvia. The exhibition is on show from 8 until 25 March 2012.
The exhibition is the result of a competition that was announced among the Academy’s students in February 2012. The young designers were invited to submit their fashion design ideas to be executed in paper. The eleven best applicants who received a chance to create their designs and participate in the exhibition are: Sabīne Skarule, Andra Andžāne, Anete Krišjānova, Ludmila Kruglika, Simona Veilande, Sanita Simtniece, Evija Berga, Elīna Siliņa, Kristiāna Kalniņa, Zane Prokofjefa and Iveta Vilne. The submission of artworks for the annual "SEB Contest in Painting - TALENT PAYS OFF!" organized by SEB Bank and Art Academy of Latvia has been completed. This year the contest, which was open to all students of the Art Academy of Latvia, attracted 71 participants who in total submitted 118 paintings. All the artworks will be on view in the exhibition "SEB Contest in Painting" at the Hall of Art Academy of Latvia from 15 November until 7 December. The winner of the competition will be announced on the final eve of the exhibition - 7 December at 6 PM. From 14 until 26 November 2011 the third floor vestibule of the Art Academy of Latvia will showcase exhibition "Ķīselis" featuring posters of the student protest march "Culture Walk No 5". The student protest, which took place on 4 November 2011 in Riga, was initiated by three Latvian art universities and was joined by several thousand students and supporters representing almost all universities of Latvia.
