The Council Convention of the Art Academy of Latvia (AAL) advises the Senate and the rector on the development strategy issues of the AAL. The aim of the Convention is to establish AAL contacts with Latvian and foreign academic, research, professional, social and commercial institutions. The Convention of Advisers has the right to initiate an examination of the issues at the Constitutional Meeting and the Senate.

The AAL Council Convention shall be established in accordance with the AAL Senate initiative for a period not exceeding three years. Advisers (members of the convention) shall be elected by the Senate.

The convention's proposals are binding on the rector of the AAL if approved by a Senate decision. Advisers have the right to participate as advisers in Constitutional Meetings and Senate meetings.

The statute for the Countrywide Convention has been approved by the Senate in 2002.
