LATVIAN ACADEMY OF MUSIC WILL HOST AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “ARTISTIC RESEARCH: VARIOUS FIELDS, APPROACHES, EXPERIENCES”

The Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) in collaboration with the Latvian Academy of Culture, the Art Academy of Latvia, the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Arts of the University of Latvia and the National Library of Latvia invites to attend the international conference of artistic research in music, visual art, design, cinema, theatre, contemporary dance, and choreography.

Participants of the conference are artists from various fields, including faculty members and doctoral students of the Joint Professional Doctoral Study Programme in Arts, established in 2020 by JVLMA, who wish to develop their creativity by exploring and raising awareness of a wide interdisciplinary context and potential.

The 96 participants including representatives from 25 countries, both EU Member States and the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Mexico, India and China, who will work in four sections:
1.    Artistic research in music.
2.    Artistic research in visual art and design research.
3.    Artistic research in performative arts (theatre, choreography, and contemporary dance).
4.    Artistic research in audio-visual art (cinema, media art etc.).

The conference will take place in a hybrid format - in person (free admission) and online on the ZOOM platform. Registration for the ZOOM links are available HERE until May 2.

The conference is part of the project ‘Cultural Capital as a Resource for Sustainable Development of Latvia’ /CARD (No. VPP-KM-LKRVA-2020/1-0003), implemented within the framework of the National Research Programme ‘Latvian Culture – a Resource for National Development 2020-2022’. This project is funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. The National Research Programme is administered by the Latvian Council of Science.
