Motion. Image. Sound

Department

Faculty of Audio-Visual Media Art

Duration of Study

Full-time study BA 4-year

About

Students of the Department of Motion. Image. Sound study animation direction and animation techniques, the rules of both classic and digital animation, as well as the varied use of time-based media in building linear and poetic multi-layered visual narratives.

The program focuses on the creation of communicative images, the interaction of text and image, where the technology used (both digital and analog) varies depending on the framework of the semester, for example, text illustration, creation of visual narratives based on personal observations, as well as combining moving image, sound, spatial structures and two-dimensional image based on an in-depth study of the material or situation. Students are encouraged to look for their personal and original visual expressions beyond the boundaries of academic drawing.

About

In the “Motion. Image. Sound" department master’s degree students specialise by using the knowledge and skills already acquired in the bachelor's program. Students develop their creative and conceptual thinking skills in one of the specific areas of the department - animation, digital photography, illustration, design graphics or other. The set of the theory and practical courses creates the necessary context for in-depth development of creative abilities and practical skills. In parallel with studies, student develops a master's thesis, which can correspond to both the student's specialisation and another art discipline.

The master's thesis is created as a creative work in audio-visual art. At the same time, the work also has a part of theoretical justification, according to the department and thematic field chosen by the student, without excluding the possibility of fitting in another art discipline.
