OPEN CALL OF INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART, DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE

Institute of Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture, Art Academy of Latvia is announcing an open call for a senior researcher position from Fall 2021 till Fall 2027.

The aim of the institute is to recognise, give exposure to and interpret phenomena of contemporary art, design and architecture. Its purpose is to foster innovation by researching at an international level in synergies between knowledge fields of culture, economics, society, technology and industry.

The institute’s work is closely interwoven with the new professional MA architecture programme, LMAA, which is due to open in 2022. Institute acts as a theoretical and conceptual research base for LMAA. Institute is the initiator of fundamental, applied and artistic research projects that will build the knowledge base of the new architecture school.

Pre-requisites:

  • PhD degree
  • International contact network and links to academia (Academic merits and global contact network, experience in academic leadership; teamwork and management skills)
  • Experience in initiating and leading international scientific research projects, in writing grant proposals for acquiring funding
  • Quotable scientific publications (approx. five various sources)
  • Academic and research experience in fields related to architecture and arts
  • Profound interest in the development of holistic ideas, theories and methods of conceptual practice and spatial culture phenomena within but not limited to Baltic sea region, quest in-between ecocentric and anthropocentric ideas such as Re-enchantment, New awareness, Baltic Strange and Body that knows.
  • English – fluent, both speaking and writing.

The senior researcher will work closely with the Institute of Contemporary Art, design and architecture Research fellow (Dina Suhanova) and persons shaping LMAA Scenius (Antra Priede, Elma Eižēnija Pētersone, Austris Mailītis, Niklāvs Paegle, Laura Linsi, Roland Reemaa, Theodore Molloy, Thomas Randall-Page, Krista Zvirgzda, Toms Kokins, Dagnija Smilga, Žilvinas Landsbergas).
