Liene Jākobsone’s research activities are focussed on design, specialising in critical and speculative design, and covering also other experimental and non-commercial design practices. She explores the potential applications of non-traditional forms of inquiry and ways of fostering criticality in design practice.
Liene teaches theoretical and practical courses in design at the Art Academy of Latvia. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers as well as non-scientific publications on design.
Next to her academic career, Liene is also involved in creative practice in the architecture and design studio Sampling, which she co-founded in 2010.
