16–26/08/23 AAL INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL / APPLY NOW!

The Ceramics Department of the Academy of Arts invites all interested people from different fields of art and culture to apply for the International Porcelain Painting Summer School - TOGETHER 2023.It will take place in different locations in Latvia from 16 to 26 August, the deadline for applications is from 1 February to 1 April, 2023.

During ten exciting days of the summer school, we will offer our colleagues and students from other universities a joint trip to the world of Latvian porcelain.  The summer school format will allow you to get to know Latvia's culture, important examples of Latvian art in the context of European art, learn about contemporary art expressions by participating in this program which includes lectures in the museums of Riga and also in Latvian regions, such as Rundale, Bauska, Jelgava, Daugavpils and Jurmala. We offer our participants a practical workshop - to create their own artwork using the overglaze porcelain painting technique. The combined, complex approach to this process, mixing theoretical lessons with practice, usually renders excellent results. This process of the creation of a work of art and the sensitive contact with art on a non-verbal level gives added value to the cognitive process.  The results will be compiled in a digital catalog and presented in an exhibition that can be seen in the R&A (Rainis and Aspazija) Museum in Jurmala.
