ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP

Erasmus+ program is a great opportunity to gain practical experience and understanding of labor market conditions, work in an international environment, improve the communication skills and knowledge of foreign languages, get to know different cultures, as well as gain a broader perspective, motivation and confidence of your abilities. Students have the opportunity to receive Erasmus+ traineeship grant through competition and spend an officially recognized traineeship period located in one of the member or partner states of the Erasmus+ program.

Once a year (usually in April), LMA International Relations department announces an Erasmus+ program traineeship grant competition for the mobility period of the next academic year, based on the regulations of the Erasmus+ grant competition.

MEMBER STATES OF ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey.

SEARCHING TRAINEESHIP ORGANIZATION

Student can apply for an Erasmus+ traineeship in a foreign organization located in one of the member states of the Erasmus+ program. Doctoral students can also apply for an assistantship in a research institution.

Choosing and finding the place of traineeship is the student's responsibility, taking into account the individual interest and relevance to the study specialty - before applying to the competition, student contacts the potential organization and receives informal approval for the implementation of the traineeship period. 

The organization of the traineeship must not be the European Union institution, the organization that manages EU programs or the diplomatic institution of the country the student represents.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The Erasmus+ traineeship program can be used at all study levels: 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th year students of the Bachelor program, 1^st and 2^nd year students of the Master  program, and 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd year students of the Doctoral program may apply at the Erasmus+ traineeship grant competition. Students of the 4^th year of the Bachelor's, the 2^nd year of the Master's and the 3^rd year of the Doctoral program may apply for the Autumn semester studies only – traineeship period during the semester before the graduation is not allowed.

The minimum study mobility period is 2 months, the maximum is 12 months within one study level (Bachelor, Master or Doctoral level).

Doctoral students can also apply for short-term mobility (5-30 days). Mobility can be semi-virtual, involving online learning exchanges and teamwork.

Students who have already used study or traineeship mobility before and received an Erasmus+ or Lifelong Learning Program Erasmus grant may also participate in the grant competition, but the total duration of mobility at one study level may not exceed 12 months.

ERASMUS+ TRAINEESHIP FOR RECENT GRADUATES

Recent graduates can use the traineeship option within one year after graduating from the Academy. Mandatory rule – the traineeship application must be submitted during the last year of studies, while the student is still in student status. Traineeship mobility of graduate is included in the study level after which the graduate goes on traineeship. The start date of the graduate traineeship cannot be earlier than the date of graduation.

GRANT

Grant rates in the Erasmus+ program are determined by the State Education Development Agency (in Latvia - VIAA). The grant is intended to help cover travel, accommodation and other costs associated with the traineeship period abroad, but does not guarantee that all the expenses will be covered.

An additional supplement to the grant is intended for participants with limited options, also if getting to the place of mobility by choosing a green mode of travel – by train, bus, personal car.

Zero grant option is also availabe, which means student is allowed to use all the same Erasmus+ program’s benefits with the same conditions, only without the grant.

RECOGNITION OF STUDY PERIOD ABROAD

The traineeship period abroad is evaluated in ECTS credits. ECTS or the European Credit Transfer System, helps to get an overview of higher education, compare it and recognize study results and ensure quality. Successful completion of the traineeship  period abroad presupposes that the Erasmus+ traineeship period is recognized, evaluated with the number of credit points and counted in the Academy's study period and the student's progress.  Student must complete 30 ECTS per semester or 60 ECTS per full study year. One traineeship month is equal 6 ECTS.

APPLICATION

Application deadline: May 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM

Application documents must be sent electronically by the deadline.

Application should include:

• Application form of Erasmus+ traineeship competition
• CV (in English)
• Motivation letter (in English)
• Portfolio (up to 5 MB with annotations in English; the link to website, blog, etc. can be added)
• Confirmation letter (informal) or e-mail from the traineeship supervisor about acceptance of the traineeship
• Proof of foreign language (copy of language course certificate, copy of centralized language exam certificate, copy of transcript of records with a mark in a foreign language, etc.)

INFORMATION FOR APPROVED STUDENTS

Erasmus+ study mobility is organized in accordance with the Erasmus student charter.

AFTER RECEIVING AN APPROVAL:

• The Learning Agreement for traineeship must be concluded, specifying the stages and implementation of the traineeship program.
• The grant agreement must be concluded regarding the Erasmus+ grant and mobility regulations; you must familiarize yourself with the annexes of the agreement: Annex II - General Conditions, Annex III - Erasmus+ Student Charter.
• You must apply for European Health Insurance Card (in Latvia – EVAK) and arrange the mandatory insurance.
• You must register yourself to take the online language assessment test, after receiving the invitation by e-mail. Online Linguistic Support (OLS) is a free online language learning program designed for Erasmus+ mobility participants, in which the student tests the level of proficiency in the language that will be used abroad, and also offers the opportunity to take foreign language courses for free.

DURING THE TRAINEESHIP MOBILITY:

• You must comply with the terms of the concluded Erasmus+ grant agreement, spend a full study period at the traineeship organization, and follow the rules and regulations established by traineeship organization.
• In case of any questions or uncertainties, the LMA International Relations department should be contacted, as well any changes in the Learning Agreement should be coordinated with the LMA and the traineeship organization.
• At the end of the traineeship period, a completed final section of the Learning Agreement must be received, as well as fully filled and signed Letter of Confirmation.

AFTER RETURNING FROM THE TRAINEESHIP ORGANIZATION:

• Within the term specified in the grant agreement, you must submit a completed final section of the Learning Agreement and Letter of Confirmation to the LMA International Relations department.
• After receiving the invitation by e-mail, you must submit the online Erasmus+ participant report.
• Based on the form provided by LMA International Relations department, you should send a written report of the mobility experience with 3-5 attached photos from the mobility period.

Erasmus+ prakses mobilitāte tiek organizēta saskaņā ar Erasmus studenta hartu.

Pēc apstiprinājuma saņemšanas

• Jānoslēdz trīspusējs prakses līgums Learning Agreement, kas paredz prakses programmas īstenošanu.
• Jānoslēdz finansējuma līgums par piešķirto Erasmus+ stipendiju un mobilitātes noteikumiem.
• Jāpiesakās un jāsaņem Eiropas Veselības apdrošināšanas karte EVAK un jāveic obligātā apdrošināšana.
• Studentam  Erasmus+ prakses laikā ir iespēja izmantot Online Linguistic Support (OLS). OLS ir bezmaksas valodas mācību programma tiešsaistē, kas izstrādāta Erasmus+ mobilitātes dalībniekiem un kurā students sākumā pārbauda savu valodas prasmes līmeni un pēc tam iegūst piekļuvi svešvalodas apguves kursu programmai.

Prakses mobilitātes laikā

• Studentam jāievēro noslēgtā Erasmus+ finansējuma līguma noteikumi un prakses līguma nosacījumi, jāievēro prakses vietas kārtība un noteikumi.
• Jebkādu problēmu vai neskaidrību gadījumā jāsazinās ar LMA Ārlietu daļu, un jebkuras izmaiņas prakses līgumā jāsaskaņo ar LMA un prakses organizāciju.
• Prakses perioda beigās no prakses vadītāja jāsaņem aizpildīta noslēdzošā prakses līguma sadaļa no Learning Agreement, kā arī prakses apstiprinājumu Letter of Confirmation.

Pēc atgriešanās no prakses

• Finansējuma līgumā noteiktajā termiņā students Ārlietu daļā iesniedz noslēdzošo prakses līguma sadaļu no Learning Agreement, kā arī pilnībā aizpildītu prakses apstiprinājumu Letter of Confirmation.
• Pēc uzaicinājuma saņemšanas e-pastā, tiešsaistē jāaizpilda Erasmus+ mobilitātes atskaite Erasmus+ participant report.
• Jāiesūta mobilitātes pieredzes stāsts ar 3-5 pievienotām foto no mobilitātes perioda. Pieredzes stāsts jāveido, balstoties uz pieredzes stāsta formu.
